Double-Up Publishing

Double-Up Publishing is pleased to accept both solicited and unsolicited manuscripts. Our house publishes novels of only urban fiction and romance genres, therefore no other genres will be considered at all. Double-Up Publishing also is under no obligation to review or accept any manuscript that we receive. To help your manuscript have an opportunity to be considered by our editorial staff, please strictly adhere to all of our submission guidelines.

For your manuscript to be considered please include all of the following items, as they are all part of a complete submission to Double-Up Publishing:

1. Title Page - The title page should have the full title of your manuscript including the subtitle (if applicable), centered halfway down the page. The title page should also include the author's name, address, phone numbers (home, work and cell) and email address. This is very important so that if your manuscript is to be considered, our staff will have various ways to contact the author. The author's information can either be a few lines below the title in the bottom right hand corner of the page, or at the top in the top left corner of the page.

2. Query Letter - The query letter is an overview of your manuscript. It should be viewed as a way for the author to gain our attention to a manuscript, and needs to be only one page in length. It should consist of a single paragraph introducing the story, then a brief description of the story (overview of plot, setting, theme, and length) but not a synopsis. Afterwards there should be a short explanation of how the story appeals to the audience, and finally a closing paragraph introducing the author and purpose of the novel.

3. Synopsis - The synopsis should be two to three pages in length and detail the full plot of the story, including the theme and overview of all major scenes which build on the story. The synopsis should be utilized to display to our staff that your story is, interesting and compelling to the reader. Also it is important to demonstrate to us that you've told a complete story that is focused, has a great flow, and offers ease of reading.

4. Chapter Outline - The chapter outline is a list of chapters with an overview of only two to three sentences for each of the chapters.

5. Author Biography - This should be one page giving us details about the author. The first half of this page should be personal information about the author (interest, hobbies, activities, and anything that may be appealing to Double-Up Publishing, keeping in mind we are an urban fiction publisher). The last portion of the biograph should be the author's goals as a writer, goals for the manuscript, and potential activities the author plans on doing to help promote/market their manuscript.

6. Manuscript - We only accept full manuscripts and will not review or consider partial manuscripts and incomplete submissions. The manuscript should be formatted as follows:

Create a header at the top of each page that has the author's name to the left, title in the middle, and the page number to the right.

Basic fonts are better to use so format your submission to us using Times New Roman at 12pt.

Manuscript should be printed on regular 8-1/2" x 11" paper, and also needs to be bound. It needs to be a minimum of 70,000 words or more.

Be sure to include a Business SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope) with you submission, in order for our staff to reply to your submission. Double-Up Publishing does not return any manuscripts or artwork, so keep a copy of your manuscript and all materials for your personal use.

Our staff will review your manuscript which typically takes three to six months. During this time please do not contact us. Once your manuscript has finished being reviewed, we will notify you of our decision by mail. We may be contacted by
email if your mailing address changes during this period, but only to inform us of the new address.

Completed manuscripts should be mailed to:
